Livingston Girl Scout Gold Award Plaque Unveiled: Celebrating Decades of Excellence
The Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) joined the community in celebrating the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at Livingston Town Hall. The plaque honors the outstanding achievements of Livingston Girl Scouts who have earned Girl Scouting’s highest awards over the years. The event took place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 6:00 PM at 357 South Livingston Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039.
This significant event celebrated the dedication and accomplishments of these remarkable young women. The plaque, which lists the names and achievements of Girl Scouts from 1935 to 2023, includes:
- Golden Eaglet: 4
- Curved Bar: 128
- First Class: 70
- Gold Award: 68
With 270 names already inscribed, the plaque leaves room for future achievers, symbolizing the ongoing legacy of excellence in the Livingston community.
The plaque was generously donated by former Livingston mayor and current council member Michael M. Vieira, whose support and dedication to the Girl Scouts have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. His contribution reflects the deep-rooted history and commitment to empowering young women in Livingston.
This plaque highlights the achievements of girls in Livingston who have greatly benefited from being Girl Scouts, showcasing their leadership skills, community involvement, and personal growth. This event served as a testament to the positive impact Girl Scouting has on young women, helping them discover their potential and make a difference in their communities.
Cookie Green, from GSHNJ, attended the event and shared her experience: "I had the honor of attending this event last night. It was awesome and emotional all at the same time. I was reunited with current volunteers from Livingston, former co-workers, former council President and former Gold Award Girl Scout from the legacy council Greater Essex and Hudson Counties."
