Dear Girl Scout Family,
Today is Founder’s Day, the birthday of Juliette Gordon Low—and an opportunity to celebrate the powerful legacy each of you helps carry forward.
Juliette envisioned a world where girls could explore their interests, challenge themselves, and discover just how much they were capable of accomplishing. More than a century later, her vision comes to life every time a Girl Scout tries something new, speaks up with confidence, or sees a need in their community and says, “I can help.”
Here at Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey, YOU bring that vision to life!
It happens when a troop welcomes a new member, a volunteer encourages someone to try again, or a family makes time for a Girl Scout adventure. It happens when Girl Scouts explore our camps, build connections in their communities, and work together to make something better. These everyday moments help young people recognize their potential, grow in confidence, and understand the difference they can make.
Just as meaningful are the joy, friendship, and understanding they find along the way. Having Girl Scouts to celebrate with, learn from, and lean on can give someone the courage to take that next step.
This Founder’s Day, I invite you to choose one way to carry Juliette Gordon Low’s legacy forward in the month ahead. At your next troop meeting or family conversation, let your Girl Scouts lead the way:
Explore together. Get outdoors, visit a new place, or try a skill that challenges you.
Make a connection. Welcome a new Girl Scout, spend time with another troop, or learn from someone whose experiences are different from your own.
Make a difference. Find a need in your community and choose one action you can take together to help.
Start with a simple question: What would you like to try, and how can we help you take that first step?
To our Girl Scouts, volunteers, families, and lifetime members: thank you for making this a community where young people feel supported, see new possibilities for themselves, and find their own ways to make the world a better place.
Happy Founder’s Day!
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Natasha Durant
