On Saturday, September 26, we’re bringing our community together at the Orange Reservoir in West Orange for the third annual GSHNJ I Run for Girls 5K Run/Walk, a high-energy, family-friendly morning filled with movement, music and purpose.
Whether you run, walk, form a team or cheer from the sidelines, every mile helps create more opportunities for Girl Scouts across our council. Together, we’re helping young people discover their strengths, find their voices and develop the confidence to try new things, the courage to keep going and the belief that they can make a difference.
The 500-point USATF-sanctioned event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Race solo, enjoy a walk with family and friends, or form a team with coworkers, troop members or another community group.
The excitement begins before participants reach the starting line with a pre-race warm-up led by Coach Adres (@adrestheboxer) of HTD Boxing Gym. Throughout the morning, DEEJAY007 #MrILoveMyJob (@deejay007online) will keep the music playing and the race-day energy high.
Participants and spectators can also enjoy complimentary refreshments, hands-on crafts and activities for kids, and tables featuring community partners. After crossing the finish line, runners and walkers will receive a participant medal and can recover with a post-race cooldown led by Newark Yoga Movement (@newarkyoga_movement).
The morning will conclude with an awards presentation recognizing the top competitive finishers in each USATF age group.

Together, we are creating opportunities for Girl Scouts to discover who they are, find their voices and develop the confidence to try, the courage to keep going, friendships that last and the belief that they can change the world.”
