This realignment supports the three-year Strategic Plan adopted last year. As our work has grown, we saw the need for structures that better support how we operate today and into the future—especially as we focus on meeting members, volunteers, families, and partners where they are. This change helps strengthen coordination, clarity, and sustainability across the organization.
No. This is not a reduction. There are no interruptions to programming, and no programs or services are being eliminated as part of this change. Our commitment to members, volunteers, and communities remains steady.
· Our mission and strategic priorities
· Our programs and services
· Support for Girl Scouts, volunteers, families, and partners
· Leadership continuity within Mission Alignment and camp operations
The goal is to strengthen how the work is supported—not to change the work itself.
Mission Alignment (formerly Girl Experience) focuses on ensuring a clear, connected, and high-quality Girl Scout journey across the council. This includes:
· Program consistency and quality
· Alignment with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE)
· Camps, programs, Highest Awards, and program systems
Mission Alignment is led by Director Roxie Zeek, who continues to report to Jamie Kay Discher.
External Affairs is a newly established department designed to strengthen how we engage with communities, partners, donors, and stakeholders. It reflects a deliberate shift toward meeting people where they are—rather than relying on them to come to us.
External Affairs is led by Vice President Tenisha Malcolm-Wint, who now reports directly to Natasha Hemmings.
The Mobile Classroom is a community-facing asset and an important tool for partnership-building, visibility, and access. Moving it to External Affairs reflects its role in engaging communities directly and expanding Girl Scouts’ reach.
The New Jersey Girl Report is a key tool for engaging donors, sponsors, and community partners. It helps ground conversations in data and lived experience, allowing for more informed, mission-aligned partnerships focused on real impact for girls.
This realignment strengthens how we support our mission. It helps us work more intentionally across teams, meet our communities where they are, and ensure Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey continues to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences—today and into the future.
