We strive to provide summer camp programs that build campers' leadership, confidence, independence, and sense of community. Our camps are committed to providing opportunities for Girl Scouts in our council and beyond, creating and connecting a diverse sisterhood that helps campers unlock their potential and discover the world all while developing life skills and making memories and friendships that last a lifetime. Join us at our Day Camp (The OVAL, Maplewood) or Sleepaway Camp (Camp Hoover, Middleville) for a week or more of outdoor fun, friendship and adventure!

Join us for the Summer of 2026
- GSHNJ operates The OVAL, our day camp, in the South Mountain Reservation in Maplewood, and our sleepaway camp, Camp Hoover, in Middleville. Beyond the fun, friendship, and skill-building, the activities campers engage in at Girl Scout summer camp foster life skills they can’t gain elsewhere. We incorporate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience into everything we do, which means they’ll do more, grow more, achieve more, and leave ready to unleash their inner go-getter, innovator, risk-taker, and leader as they say, “I did that!”
- Our camps provide a wide range of program options for campers entering kindergarten through 12th grade. There is something for everyone!
- Anyone who identifies as a girl is welcome to participate in our summer camp programs regardless of race, religion, physical ability, economic status, or national origin.
- Not a current Girl Scout not a problem! Sign up for a week (or more!) of camp and we will guide you through the Girl Scout registration process! Full instructions can also be found on page 28 in the Camp Guide.
- Financial assistance is available for registered GSHNJ Girl Scouts and can be applied for during the registration process in UltraCamp.

What Does It Mean to Be ACA Accredited?
We choose to participate in the American Camp Association's rigorous accreditation process so families and staff know we meet trusted national standards—not just minimum state requirements.
ACA Accredited camps go above and beyond what states require, undergoing independent assessments across 300+ standards in key areas including:
- Staffing
- Health Care
- Program Safety
- Transportation
- Operational Management
- Facilities
- Food Service

Are you looking to take your troop camping, planning for the summer, looking for an event location or family camping trip? Our three camps offer a variety of opportunities for you! We have facilities to host a family gathering, your next camping trip, a wedding, or special event.

Service Opportunities
Our camps are always looking for groups, troops, or individuals to help with projects and maintaining our sites. Corporations and partnerships are welcome, and we would love to connect to develop a lasting relationship.
Our three properties offer a wide array of projects that can be completed year-round. Projects include cleaning sites, making small repairs, painting, trail cleaning, carpentry projects, and more! These projects are essential to maintaining our camp properties and the hours worked can be applied to Hearts of Service. .
Troops interested in completing a High Award project are welcome to submit a fully prepared proposal for consideration.
