The Lit World Memory Keepers Project is a four-session Girl Scout
series designed to build resilience, empathy, and intergenerational
connection through the power of storytelling. Throughout this
immersive program, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will be paired
with elders in their community to practice active listening,
thoughtful reflection, and creative retelling of lived experiences. By
preserving community memories, participants cultivate lifelong skills
in communication, compassion, and creative expression.
Girl Scouts will explore multiple modes of storytelling-including
writing, visual art, performance, music, and multimedia-while honoring
elders as keepers of knowledge. Together, they will help shape a
growing network of "Memory Keepers" dedicated to uplifting
stories of resilience, wisdom, and hope across generations.
Participants will earn their World Thinking Day Patch and the
Girl Scout Way Badge through their engagement in the full
series.

Impact
The Memory Keepers Project
nurtures Girl Scouts as story collectors, interpreters, and community
builders. By partnering with elders, girls help preserve meaningful
histories while developing leadership qualities grounded in empathy,
curiosity, and creativity. This series empowers young people to become
compassionate narrators of their collective future-one story at a
time.
This is a drop-off program and GSHNJ staff
chaperones will be provided. No adults need to register for this
program.
