Did you know that MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities? Girl Scouts "from the Heart" serve with heart and so GSHNJ is partnering once again with Jersey Cares to provide volunteers with a multitude of service opportunities - a combination of virtual and in-person programs in locations across our council footprint.
* Register all anticipated volunteers, youth and adult, here if you are interested in participating, and then save the date on your calendar. In December, all those registered will be emailed the full listing of MLK Day volunteer opportunities along with specific directions on how to register Girl Scouts and their adult chaperones for the specific opportunities available.
* Note that some projects will have a cap on capacity, so participation in a specific project isn't guaranteed--consider this registration as a strong indication of interest as we collaborate with Jersey Cares to manage project capacity. Due to federal funding cuts, it is possible that there may be a more limited number of service opportunities this year. We will know by December.
* Participation in MLK Day of Service, as with any service opportunity, can count towards your GSHNJ's Hearts of Service Patch
Girl Scouts and adults must register for this program or event. All Girl Scout participants must be chaperoned at this program or event by their Troop Leaders or by a guardian.
