Programs à la Carte

GSHNJ offers opportunities for you, your troop, or group to participate in a staff-led program at a time that works for you! Just choose from our extensive menu, fill out the inquiry form linked below and we'll get in touch with you to begin the reservation process. Programs à la carte must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance of requested date to allow adequate time to schedule a facilitator.

Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout – virtual only

Program Level: ALL

Are you ready to stand up for what is right, and help to make the world a better place? In this workshop, you’ll learn about anti-racism and anti-bias by identifying your own unique traits, exploring how to use them for good, taking a closer look at some of the challenges faced by our Girl Scout sisters, and learning how you can take action. The length of time and specific activities for this program are age-appropriate, and will vary by level.

Bronze Award Workshop – virtual only

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest achievement for Junior Girl Scouts. Learn about the requirements, procedures, and tips on making your Highest Award experience successful and beneficial. These workshops cover the same material included in the online tutorials, with the added opportunity to work with GSHNJ Volunteer Experience experts to dive deep into the Highest Award process for their level, and help generate project ideas.

Bubble-ology– in-person (outdoors only), coming Spring 2022!

This program is all about bubbles! Complete experiments to answer questions like “What makes the best bubble solution?” and “Are bubbles always round?” Once you’ve discovered the optimal bubble solution, put it to the test making bubbles, bubbles, and more bubbles!

Tables are required; all other supplies are provided. Girls will get messy; dress accordingly and leave your Girl Scout vest/smock at home. This program is available starting in the spring, but can be booked now!

Digital Game Design Divas – virtual only

Join us online to get on your way to earning your Digital Game Design badge. During this interactive online session, you'll learn how game designers develop simple computer games and how games can be used "for good." You'll plan your own maze game, and use an iterative design process to plan, create, and improve your new game.

Do You Want to Be a Trailblazer? – virtual only

Does your troop love outdoor and trail-based adventures? Is your troop curious about the Trailblazer Troop option for older Girl Scouts? Are you interested in learning more to decide if this is the right option for you troop? This info session answers the questions: What is a Trailblazer Troop? How are Trailblazer Troops organized in GSHNJ? What do Trailblazers focus on? How can your troop become a Trailblazer Troop?

Girl Scouts in Space - virtual or in-person

Blast off and let’s explore the skies together. See all that the cosmos has to offer as you work on your Space Science Badge. Whether you’ve searched for shooting stars or found shapes in the clouds, you’ve probably already spent some time looking at the sky. Now’s your chance to see the sky in a new way—like a space scientist does!

Let’s get rolling on the new Mechanical Engineering badges! We’ll learn how engineers use design thinking to solve problems, then put on our thinking caps to design, build, and test drive our own Girl Scout Cookie box cars.  Level-appropriate Car Design badge included.

Gold Award Think Tank – virtual or in-person

During this group brainstorming session we will help you sort out your thoughts in choosing an issue to explore and moving forward with your Gold Award Take Action Project. Girl Scouts are encouraged to bring an adult along to help with this brainstorming session.

PREREQUISITES: Girl Scouts must have completed their Girl Scout Journey step, completed the Gold Award online tutorial, and have begun exploring issues of interest.  

Hear Me Roar – in person only

Girl Scouts, it’s time for your voices to be heard! We’ll play games, tell a story or two, and all the while work toward becoming comfortable and confident public speakers ready to effect change in the world.

Jumpstart Your Trail Adventure – virtual or in-person

Want to get your troop hiking and want a jumpstart before heading out on your Trail Adventure? This program will cover what should be in hiking backpack (the “Ten Essentials”), Leave No Trace Principles, how to “dress for the weather” and basic trail signs. We’ll end with some suggested resources and general hike locations to explore as well as a troop planning discussion based on the girls’ ability and interests. Can support Trail Adventure Badges, Brownie Hiker Badge.

Program Aide Workshop – virtual or in-person

The second step to earning your Cadette Program Aide award is to complete a council-sponsored leadership course training.  Work with GSHNJ Girl Experience experts to develop your leadership skills, learn how to work with children, and gain a deeper understanding of the elements involved in planning and delivering Girl Scout programming.  

RoboGIRLS Ozobots – in person only

Daisies and Brownies, come play with Ozobots: small but mighty robots who speak a secret language that you can learn! Explore how they work and then team up to play games and complete challenges with your ‘bots.

Robot Test Lab – virtual or in-person

Explore how robotics can be used for good. Get hands on as we tinker with ways to use biomechanics to create working prototypes of a human hand, arm, or lung. Material list will be sent upon registration. For in-person sessions, all materials are provided.

Learn practical safety skills to better prepare you so that you know what to do in an emergency. Make a backpack first aid kit so you are always prepared! Earn your Brownie or Junior First Aid badge, which is included.

Want to venture out on a troop trail adventure with a GSHNJ guide?  Choose from a selection of easy, moderate, or older girl specialty hikes at the locations listed below. Girl should come prepared with appropriate footwear, dressed for the weather, a snack and a water bottle.  Hikes will be held in light/intermittent showers but can be rescheduled with heavy rain or severe weather).

The Great Virtual Girl Scout Scavenger Hunt – virtual only

Test your Girl Scout knowledge, teamwork, and ability to find odd things quickly in this fun, at-home, game. We’ll meet up online to receive your challenges, then work in teams using break-out rooms to earn points completing various challenges.

Think Big Engineering Change – virtual or in-person

Think big and consider problems effecting women and girls around the world. Put your engineering skills into action prototyping potential solutions. Learn about problems engineers have been called in to solve from around the world. Then work in small groups to be a problem solver. Brainstorm, design and then prototype solutions to the problem. At the end, you'll share your design and discuss how your prototype could bring about big change. Who knows? Maybe you'll find inspiration for your next Journey, Bronze, or Silver Award Take Action Project!
