GSHNJ is excited to host this delicious fundraiser for the third year in a row! Enjoy the culinary creativity of our generous chefs as they transform well-loved Girl Scout cookies into amazing appetizers and desserts.

Please join us for a silent auction, wine pull, tricky tray basket raffles, live auction component, musicpassed hors d'oeuvres, gourmet food stations, coffee and tea, as well as a cash bar.

Chef Asia Bullock started her baking and pastry business — Asia B's Sweet Treats —five years ago. Asia specializes in dessert bars, custom design cakes, custom design cookies, and cupcakes.

Meet Chef Jennifer Bridgeman

Chef Jennifer Bridgeman

Jennifer Bridgeman is the baker and owner of Simply Delightful Treats. Jen has been an avid baker since she could walk and is constantly experimenting with new and creative baking methods. She is known for her beautiful and delicious cookies and cakes. In 2014 she took first place in The Star-Ledger Home Baker of the Year competition with her vegan mojito cupcake with mint chocolate ganache. Recently she noticed there were a lack of allergen friendly stores and shops nearby and after years of honing her skills, she started her own company in 2018. She brings a unique twist to her desserts by using gluten free and dairy free ingredients in her certified gluten free kitchen, one of the few in the region. In addition to baking she leads a support group for people with food allergies and autoimmune disease at the Metuchen Library and works full time as an occupational therapist with special needs children.

Chef Kiersten Gormeley

Kiersten Gormeley found herself drawn to food and cooking early in her childhood, whether it was being inspired by her mother, aunts’ and grandmother’s cooking, a fascination with cooking shows on TV or creating her own make-believe breakfast café, “Café Croissant”, with her sister serving their own fun croissant creations to the family.

Kiersten decided to pursue work in the culinary industry spending a total of 13 years exploring her passion in various roles with restaurants and catering businesses such as Houstons, Dartcor Catering, Ome Catering as well as starting her own catering company for healthy meal prep called K Kooks. In these roles, being trained by mentors coupled with her instinctual talent she honed her culinary skills. Simultaneously she pursued her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Ramapo College graduating in 2014.

Kiersten and her sister, Krista lived in Hawaii in 2014 for one year, and quickly became enamored by the cuisine. They found themselves picking their breakfast ingredients off the plants during morning walks. Influenced by this natural, simple yet healthy way of life, they knew they needed to share this back home in New Jersey, and it became their inspiration to create Shaka Bowl in 2016. The sisters now joke that Shaka Bowl is their real-life “Café Croissant”. In 2015, just a year prior to opening Shaka Bowl, Kiersten was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This further pushed her into pursuing a healthy lifestyle and she became vegetarian.

At Shaka Bowl, Kiersten is the Chef and creator of all the delicious house-made and healthful menu items. The business is a family affair, so she works side by side with her sister and best friend Krista and brother Eric who handle other aspects of the business. She is also a member of Women’s Entrepreneurs of Hudson County.

Kiersten was born and raised in Wyckoff, NJ where she was an all-state swimmer, captain of high school swim team and four-year varsity award winner. She currently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey with her dog Luna. In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, hiking, or any water-related activities as well as lifestyle and health related reading, researching and writing. Kiersten loves to help others and does so via philanthropic initiatives at Shaka Bowl. 

Meet Chef Alycia Matthews

Chef Alycia Matthews

Owner and Chef of Foodie Engineer, where she is a private chef and caterer. Chef Alycia was a finalist on The Rachael Ray Show’s Culinary School Tuition Competition in 2015. She is a recent graduate of The Institute of Culinary Education in New York. When she's not cooking, Chef Alycia works as an engineer.  Alycia is a proud former Girl Scout, and is so excited to share her food with Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey.

Chef Brian Walter

Brian Walter is the Executive Chef at Shackamaxon Country Club.  Brian has 20 years of success in both the private club industry and with world class restaurants. 

At the age of 18, Walter earned the Chef De Partie title at the French Consulate, where he worked under then French Master Chef Luc Pasquier.

Walter went on to become Chef De Partie at two world famous New York City restaurants, Le Cirque 2000 and Lespinasse, and subsequently was named the Executive Sous Chef at Guastavino’s (also in New York) under celebrity Chef Daniel Or.  Walter spent his last year in New York City as Chef De Cuisine at the iconic Union Club.  At the age of 25, he became the Executive Chef at Acqua Ristorante in Raritan, New Jersey, which led to him becoming the Executive Chef of the Char Steakhouse Restaurant Group. 

During his career, Walter was given the distinction of becoming an honorary James Beard Foundation member, and his creative food dishes have been recognized in local and national publications.  Walter also has appeared as a guest chef on Good Morning America, FOX5 Good Day New York and NBC Today.

From the corridors of Corporate America, to the pantries of most elite commercial kitchens, Vonda McPherson has mastered it all...and she's just getting started. In 1998, Vonda McPherson opened her very first restaurant venture in Elizabeth, a bustling downtown business district. BBQ, a neighborhood haven for a community in desperate need of quality food provided with an uncompromising dignified customer service philosophy. 

The second restaurant venture launched by the Vonda Inc. Brand was The Greenhouse Café a partnership between Newark Housing Authority in an effort to reinvent to common cafeteria, by introducing healthier, yet equally delicious options. 

Vonda's Kitchen is the third and most recent restaurant venture to be launched by Vonda, nestled in the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD), a Newark neighborhood listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The concept for Vonda's Kitchen was for a welcoming space that would be strategically placed in the heart of a community on the upswing.

Upon graduating college, Lauren took her passion for baking and decided to go to Culinary school for Baking and Pastry. After she graduated in 2016, she began working at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. Chef Lauren specializes in wedding cakes, specialty cakes, show pieces—like the annual gingerbread house display—along with producing desserts for Iron Chef Jose Garces’s restaurants, Olon and Okatshe.

Chef Renee Blackman

Born and raised in Barbados, Renee Blackman has always had a passion for food and culture. Growing up she has always been inspired by her mother Colleen and Grandmother Hazel’s cooking. During this time she became fascinated with food and decided at an early age to become a chef. She absorbed the taste and bold flavor to create deeply satisfying dishes. At the age of 16, she attended an early culinary program where she excelled quickly. Exhibiting extreme interest in technique and presentation, she was deemed the lead chef amongst her peers. After discovering her niche was combining food and art, Chef Renee began creating elaborate dishes for friends and family members. Chef Renee believes in using the freshest ingredients and constantly seeks out the best ingredients.

Driven by passion and success, she joined the ranks of many working in the energetic and fast paced world of restaurants such as Tommy Bahama and the Union Square Hospitality Group. She joined the Delta Sky Club as a Sous Chef and worked with some of the most talented chefs. She also works as a chef for Creative Edge Parties, Pinch Food Design and Cloud Catering, some of New York City’s most prestigious catering companies.

A seasoned talent with experience in the culinary industry, Chef Renee has shared her talent on Food Network's CHOPPED and has been featured in the Huffington Post. Committed to delivering an intimate experience with great dishes and service to her clients, she has created a beautique dining experience for the lover of food.

This dynamic chef has always had a passion for cooking since a young age, but made it her business to start a legacy for her daughter and future children to come. Kizzy'z Kitchen is where nostalgia meets modern: mastering the "Nana Effect" while adding new modern twists to comfort food!

Cooking for Chef Dell Da'e is not just about having a meal, it’s about creating a memorable experience for anyone that eats his food. Chef Da'e was first exposed to the kitchen as he watched his father and grandfather cook food for his family.

It wasn’t only about the food, but also the fun, love, and laughter they experienced as a family. As a result, Chef Da'e became drawn to this idea, and now one of his favorite mottos is “food is love."

Jose Gonzalez is a baker and barista at The Coffee Box. He developed his love of baking and cooking at an early age learning from his family’s restaurant in Guatemala. Jose enjoys experimenting with flavors and ingredients and brings an artist approach to his craft. Outside the shop, Jose loves biking and music.

Caitlyn Glynn

Caitlin started baking in college, just for fun, and now it has become a passion. In order to get more practice, she began baking cakes, cake pops, and cookies for bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties for friends and family. She soon began accepting requests to bake for various events and parties throughout the year. She takes pride in her presentation, providing beautifully decorated cookie and cake pop arrangements. She specializes in custom cookie and cake pop bouquets and gift baskets for any occasion. Caitlin has been a Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey staff member since January 2018!
