The Great Cookie Cook-Off & Silent Auction

GSHNJ is excited to host this delicious fundraiser for the second year in a row! Enjoy the culinary creativity of our generous chefs as they transform well-loved Girl Scout cookies into amazing appetizers and desserts. Please join us for a silent auction, wine pull (view our online donation registry), passed hors d'oeuvres, gourmet food stations, coffee and tea, as well as a cash bar.

Thursday, March 14, 2019  |  6:00 p.m. — 8:00 p.m.

Shackamaxon Country Club

All funds raised from this event will help benefit Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey programming including STEM & robotics, council-based initiatives such as Girl Scouts Beyond Bars and Juliette's House, enhanced programming and unique outdoor experiences for girls.

Meet Chef Brian Walter

Chef Brian Walter

Brian Walter, Executive Chef at Shackamaxon Country Club, boasts a first-rate culinary pedigree with 20 years of success in both the private club industry and with world class restaurants.

In 2009, Walter was hired as Executive Chef by Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey, where he served for two years.  Most recently, he was Culinary Director and Executive Chef for MGL Food Services and Bayberry Culinary Consultants in Somerset, New Jersey.

During his career, Walter was given the distinction of becoming an honorary James Beard Foundation member, and his creative food dishes have been recognized in local and national publications.  Walter also has appeared as a guest chef on Good Morning America, FOX5 Good Day New York and NBC Today.

With a leap of faith, Chef Vonda left the security of her successful corporate career for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship in the risky arena of restaurant ownership to pursue her own dreams. Vonda is the owner of Vonda's Kitchen, which is nestled in the heart of Newark, NJ. Vonda's Kitchen is the third and most recent restaurant venture to be launched by Vonda. This dynamic chef also catered for the 2014 Super Bowl, where she provided two classic dishes for the VIP Tailgate Party on Super Bowl Sunday.

From humble beginnings as grandma’s little helper, Matt brings his passion for baking as head baker at  The Coffee Box located in Plainfield, NJ. This new addition to the baking scene enjoys making delicious muffins and scones as well as taking long walks on the beach.

Meet Chef Lance Knowling

Chef Lance Knowling

Since moving to the east coast, Lance has worked as a chef in many critically acclaimed venues across the metropolitan area, including two of New York City's top catering companies. Lance opened his first restaurant in 2002, Indigo Smoke in Montclair, NJ. Later in 2009, he would open Indigo Kitchen & Bar in Maplewood, NJ, to critical acclaim, earning a "Best of, top 10" rating from the Star Ledger.

Lance's restaurants and talents have been highlighted as a competitor on The Food Network, The New York Times, The Star Ledger, Zagat’s, New Jersey Monthly, and Best Chefs America, among many others.

In 2010, Lance was one of the chef’s honored to cater the wedding of Chelsea Clinton and had the pleasure of preparing a special meal for the Bride and Groom, as well as dinner for President Clinton.

In 2015 Lance opened Blujeen restaurant in Harlem, NYC. In 2015 Lance founded the Black Chef Series, a dinner series highlighting African American Chefs.

Chef Asia Bullock started her baking and pastry business — Asia B's Sweet Treats —five years ago. Asia specializes in dessert bars, custom design cakes, custom design cookies, and cupcakes.

Meet Chef Jennifer Bridgeman

Chef Jennifer Bridgeman

Jennifer Bridgeman is the baker and owner of Simply Delightful Treats in Manasquan, NJ. Jen has been an avid baker since she could walk and is constantly experimenting with new and creative baking methods. She is known for her beautiful and delicious cookies and cakes. In 2014 she took first place in The Star-Ledger Home Baker of the Year competition with her vegan mojito cupcake with mint chocolate ganache. Recently she noticed there were a lack of allergen friendly stores and shops nearby and after years of honing her skills, she started her own company in 2018. She brings a unique twist to her desserts by using gluten free and dairy free ingredients in her certified gluten free kitchen, one of the few in the region. In addition to baking she leads a support group for people with food allergies and autoimmune disease at the Metuchen Library and works full time as an occupational therapist with special needs children.

Caitlyn Glynn

Caitlin started baking in college, just for fun, and now it has become a passion. In order to get more practice, she began baking cakes, cake pops, and cookies for bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties for friends and family. She soon began accepting requests to bake for various events and parties throughout the year. She takes pride in her presentation, providing beautifully decorated cookie and cake pop arrangements. She specializes in custom cookie and cake pop bouquets and gift baskets for any occasion. Caitlin has been a Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey staff member since January 2018!
