GSHNJ offers opportunities for you, your troop, or group to participate in a staff-led program at a time and location that works for you! Just choose from our extensive menu, fill out the online inquiry form below, and we'll get in touch with you to begin the reservation process. Programs à la carte must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance of requested date.

Archery at Camp DeWitt or The OVAL

(Seasonal: April 15-October 15)

Ready for some fun? Archery is an exciting, safe, physically and mentally challenging sport. No experience necessary—topics covered include range rules, safety, and fundamentals of archery.

Archery 360 at Camp DeWitt or The OVAL

Here’s your chance to earn the new Girl's Choice Cadette Archery badge! Topics covered include range rules, safety, and fundamentals of archery—everything you need to know to get started with this exciting, popular sport.

Basic Leadership Training (In-Person)

Program Level: V  |  Length: 2 hours  |  Minimum Adults: 6  |  Maximum Adults: 20

There is a lot involved with setting up a new Girl Scout troop, and we’re here to help you get started. Basic Leadership Training is the place to learn about council resources and structure, safety standards, working with parents, troop finances, registration, uniforms, and all the basics needed to get your troop up and running.

Bubble-ology

Program Level: D, B  |  Length: 90 minutes  |  Cost: $10/girl
Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

This program is all about bubbles! Complete experiments to answer questions like “What makes the best bubble solution?” and “Are bubbles always round?” Once you’ve discovered the optimal bubble solution, put it to the test making bubbles, bubbles, and more bubbles! This program is best run outdoors or in a room with mop-able floors. Tables are required; all other supplies are provided. Girls will get messy; dress accordingly and leave your Girl Scout vest/smock at home.

Camp Newbie

Program Level: V  |  Length: as needed  |  Cost: Free

Plan your troop/group/service unit campout at one of GSHNJ’s camp properties, then request an experienced outdoorswoman to join you. She will provide planning tips and guidance, and then be present at your campout to lend a helping hand as you get your girls cooking over a fire, exploring the outdoors, and just plain having fun.

NOTE: Before requesting a Camp Newbie program, at least one troop adult must have already completed all three steps of Outdoors and Overnights training, and that person must be present at the Camp Newbie program.

Challenge Course at Camp DeWitt

Seasonal (April 15 - October 15)

Try our new challenge course at Camp DeWitt! Trained facilitators will work with the girls using teamwork and trust activities in combination with low ropes climbing elements and the mini zip line. The course offers a fun, safe, and positive environment in which individuals and troops work together to develop confidence, cooperation, and critical thinking skills. 

Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, or Senior Level (In Person)

Are you a new leader, or are your girls moving up to a new level? Join other leaders and council staff to explore Girl Scout resources like The Girls’ Guide to Girl Scouting including petals, badges, Journeys, service projects, and high awards. Get answers to questions about working with Girl Scouts at your level, learn how to incorporate the “Three Processes” to make your meetings easy and successful, and get tips on interacting with girls of this age. 

Geocaching at Hoover, DeWitt, or The OVAL

Seasonal (April 15-October 15)

Geocaching is a digital treasure hunting game sweeping the globe. Join us to learn about the game and then follow clues and your GPS unit to set off around camp in search of caches.

G.I.R.L. Agenda: Hear Me Roar

Program Level: J, C, S, A  |  Length: 90 minutes  |  Cost: $6/girl  |  Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

G.I.R.L.s, it’s time for your voices to be heard! We’ll play games, tell a story or two, and all the while work toward becoming comfortable and confident public speakers ready to effect change in the world.

Gold Award Think Tank

Program Level: S, A  |  Length: 1 hour  |  Cost: Free
Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

During this group brainstorming session we will help you sort out your thoughts in choosing an issue to explore and moving forward with your Gold Award Take Action Project. Girls are encouraged to bring an adult along to help with this brainstorming session. PREREQUISITES: girls must have completed their Girl Scout Journey step, completed the Gold Award online tutorial or attended a webinar, and have begun exploring issues of interest.  

GSHNJ Museum Visit

Program Level: ALL  |  Length: 60 minutes  |  Cost: Free
Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

Visit GSHNJ’s Museum—the only museum in New Jersey dedicated exclusively to Girl Scouts history. Complete a scavenger hunt as you move through the collection examining items from our rich history. GSHNJ Museum patch available in the council shops.

High Awards Workshops

Program Level: J, C, S, A  |  Length: 90 minutes  |  Cost: Free
Girl Minimum: 5   |  Girl Maximum: 20

The Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards are the highest achievements in Girl Scouts. Learn about the requirements, procedures, and tips on making your Highest Award experience successful and beneficial. These workshops cover the same material included in the online tutorials, with the added opportunity to work with GSHNJ staff to dive deep into the Highest Award process for their level, and help generate project ideas.

Journey Jumpstart

Program Level: ALL  |  Length: 90 min-2hrs  |  Cost: $5/girl
Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

Journey Jumpstarts are intended to get leaders comfortable with delivering the Journey materials of their girls’ choice. Council staff and leaders work together to walk the girls through the first portion of their selected Journey, and then the girls and leaders will complete the rest on their own.

Outdoor Series: Fire Building Safety and Skills

Seasonal (April 15-October 15)

Program Level: ALL  |  Length: 1-2hrs  |  Cost: $6/girl  |  Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

All Girl Scouts need to know how to build and manage a safe fire—even our youngest girls! Get help from experienced outdoorswomen to teach your girls the important fundamentals of fire building including safety, types of wood, construction techniques, and more. Plus, we’ll put those fires to good use roasting marshmallows! Outdoor Series patch included.

Outdoor Series: Knife Safety and Skills

Program Level: B, J, C, S, A  |  Length: 90 min-2hrs  |  Cost: $8/girl  |  Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

Knife skills are an important part of the Girl Scout outdoor experience.  Get help from experienced outdoorswomen to teach your girls the important fundamentals of using a knife including general safety; when, where, and how to handle sharp knives while camping; and practice sharpening and carving. Knives provided. Outdoor Series patch included.

Planning Service Unit Events

Program Level: V  |  Length: as needed  |  Cost: Free

Does your Service Unit want to offer an event or camporee just for your girls, but you don’t know how to get started or what will be effective? GSHNJ staff is here to provide guidance and tips as you plan and execute a large-scale event or campout. We’ll help you think critically about each aspect of the plan and make decisions about venue, activities, attendance, set-up, and more.

Program Aide Workshop

Program Level: C  |  Length: 4 hours  |  Cost: Free  |  Girl Minimum: 6
Girl Maximum: 20

The second step to earning your Cadette Program Aide award is to complete a council-sponsored leadership course training. Work with GSHNJ Program Specialists to develop your leadership skills, learn how to work with children, and gain a deeper understanding of the elements involved in planning and delivering Girl Scout programming.

RoboGIRLS Ozobots

Program Level: D, B  |  Length: 90 minutes  |  Cost: $15/girl  |  Girl Minimum: 4  |  Girl Maximum: 16

Daisies and Brownies, come play with Ozobots: small but mighty robots who speak a secret language that you can learn! Explore how they work and then team up to play games and complete challenges with your ‘bots.

Sew and Glow

Program Level: J, C  |  Length: 2 hours  |  Cost: $12/girl  |  Girl Minimum: 5  |  Girl Maximum: 20

Did you know that electrical circuits can show up in the some surprising places? Explore where technology and crafting meet by learning sewing and circuitry basics, then completing a project that will really brighten your day.
