Senior Director of Marketing and Communications

Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will be accountable for the strategic design, development, and implementation of the council's marketing and communications plans and objectives.

Position Duties:

•Partners with the council Senior Team and staff to create the design, development and implementation of the council Strategic Marketing Plan

•Creates, develops, and implements a comprehensive public relations and communications plan (in conjunction with GSUSA where applicable)

•Aggressively seeks media opportunities to further the message and brand of Girl Scouts

•Establishes marketing, public relations, and communications policies, procedures, and plans

•Ensures the interests, values, and needs of persons of all races, cultures, religions and abilities are reflected in the development of all marketing and communications materials, activities, and facilities of the council

•Develops and maintains an awareness of the Girl Scouts brand image among all constituents of the Girl Scout movement within the council's jurisdiction through the use of public relations and marketing campaigns

•Protects and interprets the national and council logos and service marks to ensure consistency and appropriate usage on all products and services created on the behalf of Girl Scouts

•Partners with the Senior Team to develop short and long range plans that fully leverage all of the council's assets (camps, council publications, press releases, donor appeals, etc.)

•Collaborates with Senior staff members in Fund Development, Membership, Programs and Retail, to develop and implement council-wide special events

•Collaborates with IT providers to create a web presence that fully embraces the Girl Scout brand

•All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

•Marketing/communications/public relations background

•Demonstrated excellent written and oral skills across multiple media and audience sizes

•5 or more years of experience leading teams

•Strong project and budget management skills

•BA required, MA a plus or equivalent of 10 or more years of experience
