Senior Director Programs, Camp Operations, and Asset Management

Job Summary:

The Senior Director is accountable for the development, implementation, and assessment of council strategies in order to deliver an integrated model of personal growth and leadership to girls within the council’s jurisdiction. This includes designing, developing and implementing comprehensive and strategic program plans (which includes day and resident camp) that support girl membership retention and acquisition. The Senior Director is responsible for the cohesive and dynamic delivery of those programs that will deliver Girl Scouting to the largest number of girls across multiple levels in the council. She/he is also accountable for the management of the council service center properties.

LOCATION:
This position is based in our East Service Center (Montclair, NJ); however travel to our Service Centers, council properties, and communities within our jurisdiction will be required.


MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develops and implements council-wide Girl Scout programs and resources to meet the needs of girl members
  • Collaborates with volunteers, community organizations and other operating units in the development and delivery of programs and the creation of new initiatives which will further the work of the council
  • Plans marketing strategies in conjunction with the Senior Director Marketing and Communications to ensure the increased participation of current and non-members in council-sponsored programs
  • Researches and analyzes membership, population, socioeconomic and data/trends in order to identify, develop, and implement action plans for any gaps
  • Collaborates with Senior Directors of Membership and Fund Development to create case statements and proposals for external funding to support the council’s membership goals
  • Performs an outcomes based analysis of each program to ensure funding compliance and effectiveness of the program against stated objectives
  • Manages the work of the Program Specialists, Camp Directors, and Business Services Manager to ensure that administrative volunteers and employed staff comply with and support the council’s and GSUSA’s philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, and business practices
  • Develops and maintains a risk management plan for all program operations and ensures compliance with all safety standards
  • Develops and manages the budget for the program, camp, and service center property function
  • Manages the effective development and retention of high performing program staff and ensures they are organized and deployed appropriately to achieve successful operating results
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Energetic and enthusiastic team player interested in growing within an entrepreneurial environment
  • Comprehensive analytical, strategic thinking and, problem solving skills with the ability to plan and implement in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in oral and written communications on an interpersonal or group level
  • Youth oriented program background a plus
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Strong analysis and reporting skills
  • 7 or more years of managerial experience
  • College degree required; MA a plus
