S.T.E.M. and Outdoor Program Specialist

Job Summary:

The S.T.E.M. and Outdoor Program Specialist researches, designs, and delivers outdoor programs as well as Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) girl program opportunities year-round and Council-wide that addresses the needs and interests of Girl Scout members and attracts nonmembers to the organization. This position also requires working on existing programs, specific grant fundable programs opportunities, Summer BLAST and attending special Council events.

Location
This position is based in our East Service Center (Montclair, NJ); however travel to our other Service Centers and Council properties within our jurisdiction will be required.

Major Accountabilities

  • Research current girl trends and issues within the Council jurisdiction, New Jersey, and nationwide and develop programs accordingly and coordinate resources to deliver high capacity programs while maintaining program budgets
  • Facilitates programs to our constituents on a weekly basis
  • Programs may be both indoors and outdoors
  • Design curriculums for delivery by staff, volunteers or paid facilitators with a focus in the S.T.E.M and outdoor areas
  • Implement programs fundable through grants in target areas
  • Work with the Director of Program and Girl Recognition to ensure program outcomes are aligned with council’s vision and administer evaluations for programs to capture data as needed
  • Plan marketing strategies to ensure increased participation of members and non-members in conjunction with members of the Membership and Marketing teams
  • Cultivate and manage program volunteers and paid facilitators to assist with the implementation of designed programs
  • Maintain an organized database of Programs and facilitators by content area
  • All other duties as needed

Requirements/Qualifications

  • College degree with a major or concentration of study in S.T.E.M or equivalent years of work experience
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Flexible to work hours year-round which will include both weekend and evenings; during peak program periods work schedule may be adjusted to a Wed-Sunday workweek
  • Highly organized, self-starter with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, set priorities, manage objectives within specified time and financial limits
  • Excellent time management
  • Superior written and oral communication
  • Youth development or curriculum development background highly desired coupled with experience presenting to youth groups
  • Able to lift/manipulate or move up to 30lbs of Girl Scout materials and supplies
  • Up to 40% travel within our communities will be required necessitating a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and car required coupled with the willingness to travel throughout the Council jurisdiction
